AFTER sheer horror took over Dublin city this Thursday, a moment of heroism arose as Deliveroo driver Caio Benicio sprang into action to save a young girl from a knife-wielding attacker.
The incident unfolded on Parnell Square East, where Caio, on his motorbike at the time, witnessed the terrifying scene.
Without hesitation, Caio swiftly dismounted, removed his helmet, and used it as an improvised weapon to intervene and fend off the assailant.
The courageous act has earned him the title of a local hero, with Dublin residents expressing their gratitude for his selfless actions.
In response to the heroic deed, a GoFundMe campaign was initiated to show appreciation for Caio Benicio and to thank him for his bravery. The campaign, titled Buy a Pint for Caio, encourages individuals to contribute the cost of a pint of Guinness from their local pub as a gesture of gratitude for the Deliveroo driver's swift and courageous response.
The campaign organiser, Paul Darcy, expressed, "Caio is a true hero, and the least we can do is buy him a pint. Let's show him that the people of Dublin appreciate his bravery and quick thinking."
The response has been overwhelming, with individuals from all walks of life coming forward to contribute. At time of publication, €95,278 has been raised, with the number continuously on the rise.
