GARDAÍ have completed a search at a second location as the investigation into the murder of Tina Satchwell continues.
Skeletal remains were found by gardaí investigating the disappearance of the 45-year-old at the home where she lived in Youghal, Co Cork on Wednesday, October 11.
An investigation team based in Midleton Garda Station continue to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the murder of Tina Satchwell.
In a statement this Thursday afternoon, Superintendent Adrian Gamble said that a Garda technical examination at her former residence is continuing and a second search at a location between Youghal and Killeagh, county Cork has been completed.
He stated that the human remains had been removed to Cork University Hospital "where they will be subject to further examination including DNA analysis".
"Earlier today, a male in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of murder, and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Co Cork," Superintendent Gamble continued.
"The family of Tina Satchwell continue to be updated on the progress of this investigation by an appointed family liaison officer and my thoughts and the thoughts of the investigation team continue to be with them at this difficult time."
He once again appealed to any person who may have information on the murder of Tina Satchwell, no matter how insignificant they may think that information is, to contact the investigation team at Midleton Garda Station on (021) 462 1550, the Garda Confidential Line on (1800) 666111 or any Garda Station.
