Motorcyclist killed in accident in Offaly collision

The incident happened on Sunday evening

A MOTORCYCLIST has lost his life in a road collision in County Offaly..

Gardaí attended the scene of the fatal incident which occurred on the R357 at around 6.45pm on Sunday at Mullaghatour, Belmont County Offaly.
 
"The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was later removed to Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore. A post-mortem will take place in due course," stated a garda spokesperson.
 
The road remains closed this Monday morning while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.
 
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
 
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area is asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
