Gardai at the scene in Sallins yesterday
The 16-year-old boy injured in yesterday's road traffic accident in Sallins has died.
Dane Loakman, a student in Naas, passed away at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin earlier this evening.
The boy suffered a number of injuries when he was struck by a vehicle as he crossed the road outside the Castlefen estate on the Clane side of Sallins before 8am on Monday morning, November 27. It is understood he was crossing to get on a school bus. He was struck by a van heading in the direction of Clane.
The driver of the van was uninjured.
Gardai at Naas Garda Station are appealing for witnesses to the tragic incident to contact them at 045 884300.
They are especially seeking anyone who may have been on the Clane Road, Sallins or in the area between 7.40am and 7.45am on Monday morning, and particularly any motorists with a dash cam in their vehicle to contact Naas Garda Station, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
