Some 37.3 tonnes of waste paint were collected in a Kildare County Council initiative.

KCC in partnership with the Regional Waste Enforcement Office and the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications, held a free domestic waste paint recycling event on Saturday September 28 at Aras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas.

The aim was to assist and encourage households in recycling and to reduce dumping across County Kildare.

About 870 cars arrived over the 5 hours of the event, which equates to one vehicle every 21 seconds. A total of 37.3 tonnes of waste paint were brought to the event

Funding for the event, which was held in collaboration with waste management company Enva, was awarded under the Anti-Dumping Initiative from the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications.
