Luke Mulvihill and Naas CBS principal Ben Travers
A Leaving Certificate student from County Kildare is among that rare cohort who could not have performed any better when undertaking the tests.
Luke Mulvihill attended Naas CBS and is from the town.
The 19 year old got eight H1 grades in the exam.
In sporting terms it’s the equivalent of a 147 break in snooker or equalling Usain Bolt’s sprint records on the athletics track.
Luke plans to study medicine in Trinity College.
Some 168 students sat the exam at the school this year and it's expected 170 will in 2025.
He did eight subjects; although only six results are allowed for the purposes of allocating college places - and the maximum points that can be awarded within the college/university placement system is 625.
This means that, in a sense, he comfortably overshot the runway.
