The Forge Inn, Naas, is being renovated inside and out
County Kildare’s newest pub opening is set to take place by the end of September.
The Forge Inn at South Main Street in Naas is adjacent to the recently opened Naas Plaza entrance.
This is the site of the shopping centre development, which also incorporates hundreds of car parking spaces, but which never actually opened.
The site was sold by the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA), which was established in 2009 during the banking crisis, to the Roche Group, which also owns the Vista Primary Care enterprise in Naas.
The Forge Inn has not traded for a number of years and is also owned by the Roche Group, which, along with a number of main street properties became part of the shopping centre premises.
Ger Roche of the Roche Group said he hoped to open the premises within two months.
He also said he is seeking a bar manager and it is intended that the owning company will run the pub itself - as proposed to leasing it to another party.
Mr Roche attributed the most recent delay to in ensure with the licence which is being dealt with by an expert barrister who specialises in this area of legislation.
The Forge Inn has been closed for many years.
In March 2018, a fire was deliberately started at premises causing extensive damage - subsequently costed at €100,000.
