Two developments

More housing is in the pipeline for Naas

Homes will be provided at Rathasker Road

Two more social/affordable  housing developments are in the pipeline for Naas.

According to Kildare County Council designs have been prepared for a scheme of 73 units at the Caragh Road site.

And it is expected that these will be available in 2026.

Separately, a housing project at a  site at Rathasker Road will provide 80 homes.

A Naas Municipal District meeting was told that this  was originally progressed by Cluid Housing Association.

The original proposal involved integrating the brownfield site with demolition of the existing St. Ita’s complex for potential mixed use residential development.

Significant ground investigation and soil testing of soil took place in 2018 and a  cost estimate was prepared in 2021.

However, the significant costs associated with the removal of asbestos and contaminated ground there made the project “ unviable for Cluid.”

This site has now been included in a public private partnership initiative and design work on this will start in April.

It’s hoped that this project will be delivered in 2027. This is a new plan and  these will be in addition to St Ita’s.

The information was provided to independent councillor Seamie Moore who criticised the delay.
