Smeared blood on a garda's uniform

Whiskey was stolen from supermarket

A man who smeared blood on a garda’s uniform was prosecuted at Naas District Court.

Tom Walsh, 34, whose address was given as Mulhussey, Maynooth,  was prosecuted for stealing a bottle of whiskey worth €23 from the Aldi store at Kilcock Road, Maynooth and with breaching the Public Order Act on the same date.

Sgt Mary Meade told Judge Desmond Zaidan that the public order incident occurred about an hour and a half after the whiskey was taken.

She said the defendant was highly intoxicated and was staggering out in front  of traffic. She said he was irate with the gardaí and smeared blood on a uniform.

Judge Desmond Zaidan freed the defendant and bound him to the peace. He told the defendant he would send him to prison if he came before him again for drinking in public.
