Carbury locals are annoyed that the new R402 road between Enfield and Edenderry could cut off the village of Carbury.

Local councillor Brendan Weld went so far as to say that there was a danger of “killing the village.

“It’s appalling,” he told a meeting of Clane Area Committee meeting last Tuesday, September 10.

The difficulty is that while the R402 bypasses the village, one of the roads into the village is cut off, effectively making the village a cul de sac.

“We fought this tooth and nail, pleaded with the road designers, not to cut off the village.

“We’ve practically closed off the village and the businesses in it.”

He argued that locals were disgusted with public representatives over the matter.

Council officials said they would agree to meet with public representatives at the village.
