Housing body gifts to Mens Shed group in Celbridge

Celbridge’s Men Shed group had a minor celebration recently when it received a cheque from the Oaklee Housing Trust (OHT), which runs Hawthorn Court on the town’s Maynooth road.

Celbridge’s Men Shed group had a minor celebration recently when it received a cheque from the Oaklee Housing Trust (OHT), which runs Hawthorn Court on the town’s Maynooth road.

Hawthorn resident, Terry Dallas, a retired South African who has lived in Ireland for 15 years, was the go between, and Geraldine Corkey, the Hawthorn scheme co-ordinator said the Trust was happy to donate €100 to the Shed.

The Men Shed was set up three years ago and now operates from the Mill Community Centre.

Designed to provide a focal point for a variety of males at loose ends, it has the potential to keep its skill members quite busy. “We have been and running propertly for two years,” said Terry, who added that the 17 strong group meet every Wednesday between 14.00-16.30.

The group hopes to get more time at the Mill. The group includs carpenters, turners, plumbers electrician and is will to both train men (small donation appreciated) who might want to pick up those skills.(contact Celbridge Community Centre).
