Sally Purcell has been crowned the Kildare Derby Festival Person of the Year taking over from Paddy Phelan of St. Brigid’s Boxing Club.

Sally has been an active member of the festival committee for many years and is heavily involved in the local community. She is also a key player in the local Toastmasters group. As current PRO of the Derby Festival Committee, she has excelled in her role.

Committee chairman, Ollie Kearns said; “Sally is very good at her job. She is a good PRO and a good worker. She has been involved in the Derby Festival since the early days and particularly involved in organising the Derby Festival Queen every year and the fashion shows.”

The final of the Kildare’s Got Talent competition also took place on the night at Tigerlilies last Friday September 6.

Prizes were also presented for the parade entries who excelled during the festival. A raffle was also held to raise money for the Princess Leah fund.

Last year’s winner, Paddy Phelan will now go forward to the Kildare Person of the Year awards.
