A number of Newbridge train users were left fuming yesterday after they disembarked from the 3.30pm train from Heuston to find eleven cars clamped.

The gardai were called and liased with the car owners. One man, who spoke to the Leinster Leader said he had parked illegally because there was simply nowhere else to park.

“I was not blocking anyone, or any part of the road. It wasn’t a parking space as such,” he said.

He said more signage should be installed at the entrance to Newbridge Train Station to draw people’s attention to the overflow car park the other side of the bridge.

“I wasn’t aware it was there. I think there should be more signage and train users should be made aware of it, so this kind of thing doesn’t happen again, especially in the run up to Christmas with people having to fork out €120 to get declamped,” he added.

The Leader has contacted Iarnród Eireann and NCPS for comment.
