38% of Kildare water leaking from pipes

Irish Water

Some 38% per cent of Kildare's water is being lost through leakages, according to Irish Water's metering programme.

It said 789 householders in Kildare benefited from the First Fix Leak Repair scheme.

“Lost water is estimated at 47% nationally based on figures from the national metering programme, and 38% across Kildare based on 2015 figures,” said Irish Water.

The scheme aims to address water leakage on pipework within a customer’s property.

Under the scheme, Irish Water notifies customers where suspected leakage is occurring within the property boundary outside the home and offer a free leak investigation and repair if appropriate.
