Planting programme requested for this Kildare Municipal District

A local councillor urged Kildare County Council to set up the project
The establishment of a planting programme has been requested for one County Kildare Municipal District (MD).
Fianna Fáil councillor Suzanne Doyle urged Kildare County Council (KCC) to set up the programme while in attendance at the latest Kildare-Newbridge MD meeting, which took place on Wednesday, April 15 last.
Her request was submitted in the form of a motion, in which she called for KCC to include 'a planting programme of natural heritage perennial plants in appropriate locations in the MD - for example, roundabouts, swales and grass verges'.
Cllr Doyle's motion was seconded by Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender.
In response to Cllr Doyle's motion, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "Native planting is considered, where appropriate and feasible."
However, KCC stressed to her: "There is also a need to consider using non-native planting also, depending on the
location."
