Gardai in Newbridge, Co Kildare are investigating an incident of criminal damage to a vehicle which occurred last week.

The details of the incident were relayed by Gda Aidan McGrath of Maynooth Garda Station to Kfm's host Hannah Kelly on the station's Crime Slot radio section.

According to Gda McGrath, Gardai responded to a call that happened in the Beechmount/Green Road area of Newbridge on Wednesday morning at 3.45am on April 8 2026.

Gardai believe that the rear window of a car was smashed and an accelerant was thrown into the vehicle and a fire was started.

When gardai arrived on the scene, the fire was under control and was quickly extinguished, but from garda investigations it appeared that the fire was set intentionally.
