Heavy lorries will be banned from this Kildare town by year's end

Council says it needs to go through a number of processes

Heavy goods vehicles will be rerouted away from the centre of Sallins - probably this year.

Local councillor Anne Breen asked, at a Naas Municipal District meeting, about the “barring HGVs passing through” the centre of the town.

According to Kildare County Council “a number of processes are required prior to the completion of this process.”

A road at Millennium Park in Naas needs to be taken in charge  and this will be followed by changing  the classification of the public road “to restrict certain classes of vehicles travelling through Sallins.”

KCC has undertaken to update councilors “once the road at Millennium Park is taken in charge (and this matter is progressing and is expected to be resolved during the year).
