Local sports clubs and community groups have been invited to attend a Capital Grants meeting in a well-known County Kildare hotel.
Fianna Fáil Senator Fiona O’Loughlin has invited local sports clubs, volunteers and community groups to attend a meeting with the Minister for Sport, Charlie McConalogue TD, in order to discuss the upcoming Sports Capital Grants programme and opportunities within the sporting sector.
Explaining her view about why she thinks the upcoming event is important, Senator O'Loughlin said: "Sports clubs and their volunteers are very much the heartbeat of our communities, bringing people together, improving health and wellbeing and providing shared spaces where inclusion and local pride can grow.
"We have a wealth of sporting clubs in South Kildare, many needing support in upgrading facilities, and of course other clubs who still need permanent homes.
"The meeting will give those involved in sport the opportunity to hear directly from the Minister about the grants and supports available to help develop sporting facilities and participation in local communities."
She also noted that Kildare Sports Partnership will also be present, and that the head of the organisation, Syl Merrins, will be speaking about the group's work.
Senator O'Loughlin concluded: "I’m pleased to invite local clubs, volunteers and community groups to this meeting with Minister McConalogue; it will be a great opportunity to hear about the upcoming Sports Capital Grants and the opportunities available for sport in our communities."
The meeting will take place at the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
It will begin at 7pm.
Anyone who wishes to secure a place for this upcoming event can email Senator O'Loughlin on fiona.oloughlin@oireachtas.ie or text her on 085 102 4120.
