Nine patients were treated on trolleys at Naas Hospital today, having been admitted through the accident and emergency department.

Elsewhere in the eastern region, the most overcrowded facility was St Vincent's in Dublin where there were 42 people on trolleys.

There were no patient on trolleys at Tullamore Hospital and the figure for Portlaoise was seven.
