Kildare manslaughter accused appears in court

Judge asked if the family of the deceased are being kept informed

High Court challenge brought over Attorney General's refusal to order fresh inquest

A 19 year old man from Kildare town who is accused of manslaughter has appeared at Naas District Court.

Ryan Murphy, whose address was given as Curragh Plains, on the outskirts of Kildare  town is being prosecuted for the alleged manslaughter of Ryan Weir Gibbons in Kildare town  last October.

Mr Weir Gibbons, of Connagh Green, Cooleaghknock Glebe, Kildare town, passed away in hospital a few days after being found unresponsive at Magee Terrace,  Dublin Road, on 26 October.

During the brief hearing Judge Desmond Zaidan asked if the family of the deceased were being kept informed of the progress of the case and he was told that they are.

The matter was adjourned to March 26.
