A fire crew based in County Kildare was called to extinguish a vehicle which had been set alight.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about this incident, a garda spokesperson responded: "Gardaí and emergency services attended a criminal damage by fire of a motor vehicle in Athy, County Kildare in the early hours of Monday, March 2 last.

"The local fire service extinguished the fire.

"There were no reports of injuries."

The spokesperson concluded by saying that investigations are ongoing.
