Judge orders arrest of man driving while banned at M7 filling station near Kildare

Case was heard at Portlaoise District Court

A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of a motorist who was driving while disqualified at Portlaoise Plaza off the  M7 near Kildare. 

James Preston (46) of Wellview House, Tonlagee Road, Raheny, Dublin failed to appear before Portlaoise District Court where he was accused of driving without a licence or insurance at Portlaoise Plaza on January 25, 2025.

Garda Inspector Barry Houlihan said the man had been stopped while driving an 08C registered black Toyota Avensis.

The man admitted to Gardai that he was disqualified at the time.

Inspector Houlihan said the defendant had 92 previous convictions including 10 for driving while uninsured.

Judge Andrew Cody issued a bench warrant for sentencing.
