A mental health consultation is due to take place in one County Kildare town.

Explaining the purpose of the upcoming event, Paddy Maher, a mental health professional associated with the planned consultation, said: "The time has come where we need to come together to take action and demand more.

"Standing back and hoping things will change, changes nothing!"

"We can’t wait any longer," he added.

Appealing to the public, Mr Maher said: "Please attend this meeting and share it [the information] far and wide, because too many people are struggling, and need help; from suicide, self harm, anxiety, depression, addiction and homelessness, to name a few.

"The power is in the number of people behind this, and change is clearly needed.

"Our communities need you now to create a plan of action [because] what we are currently doing is not working."

He concluded: "Please remember that nobody is safe from struggling with mental health problems; everyone is affected by this directly and indirectly, so this is everyone’s responsibility and concern.

The consultation will take place on Monday, March 9, 2026 inside Newbridge Town Football Club's hall.

It will begin at 7.30pm.

Anyone seeking further information can contact Mr Maher on 087 120 5603.
