While on patrol on Main Street, Maynooth, Co Kildare recently, Naas Roads Policing Unit detected a large SUV parked illegally in a designated Disabled Parking Bay.
A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice of €150 was issued.
A garda spokesperson said of the offence: “Let’s be absolutely clear — these bays are not for convenience. They are there for people with disabilities who rely on them for access, dignity, and independence.
“Choosing to park there without entitlement is not just illegal — it’s inconsiderate and unacceptable.
“We will continue to take action against those who think the rules don’t apply to them. Disabled parking bays are there for a reason. Respect them.”
