A  swing at a Kildare playground provided for wheelchair users will be replaced

Kerdiffstown Park, near Naas

Kildare County Council says it will replace a wheelchair swing in the playground at Kerdiffstown Park, Naas.

Cllr Carmel Kelly said the swing has been closed to use and she’s aware of two families who have a requirement for it.

KCC official Simon Wallace and it closed “due to issues with the locking mechanism on the swing and the design of the swing platform which creates difficulties for electric wheelchairs.” 

He told a Naas Municipal District meeting that considerable time has been invested trying to resolve these issues with the playground installer.

“The replacement of the unit is now being considered to resolve these issues,” he said.
