A Kildare driver was stopped recently with no insurance and a learner permit which had expired 15 years previously.

While on patrol in Naas, Naas Roads Policing Unit members stopped an SUV on the R407.

A check using the Mobility App revealed:

  • No Insurance.

  • Learner Permit expired for 15 years.

The vehicle was immediately impounded and proceedings have commenced.

A garda spokesperson said: “Driving without insurance isn’t just illegal — it’s reckless. It puts innocent road users at serious financial and personal risk. There are no excuses.

If you’re on our roads, make sure:

  • You are properly insured

  • Your licence is valid

  • You are legally entitled to drive

We are out every day, every night. If you take the risk — expect the consequences.”
