Kildare woman 'found locked in Dunnes Stores toilet'

A woman was found locked in a toilet of a Dunnes Stores outlet, Naas District Court was told.

Michaela Connolly, 27, whose address was given as Clogheen, Monasterevin, was prosecuted.

Sgt Mary Meade told the court the defendant was found "slumped" in the toilet “with a naggin of vodka.”

The sergeant said a garda was told to “f… off” and the defendant also said “don’t touch me.”

The court was told the woman has some 60 convictions, including 50 for contravening the Public Order Act.

“Alcohol is the number one problem,” solicitor Brian Larkin said, adding “she is not the worst when she’s without the demon drink.”

A fine of €400 for a breach of the Public Order Act was imposed by Judge Desmond Zaidan, and a second allegation was taken into consideration.
