Kildare County Council (KCC) has expressed interest in creating a water management priority list for the Athy Municipal District (MD).

The list was raised at the latest MD meeting, which took place on Monday, February 16 last.

It was suggested by Fianna Fáil councillor Veralouise Behan, who motioned for Kildare County Council (KCC) to increase its road surface water management practices in the MD, "to include and not limited to: the clearing of culverts, watercuts and drains".

She appeared at the meeting by virtual means.

In response to her motion, KCC explained via the report it presented at the meeting: "KCC managed watercuts, culverts and drains are already part of our routine maintenance.

"However we are happy to meet with the councillors to put a priority list together of badly affected areas."
