A new €665,000 commercial vehicle testing centre is set to be developed at Finlays Garage, located at Moore Abbey Demesne, Monasterevin, Co. Kildare.
The project, valued at €665,000, involves the construction of a purpose-built commercial vehicle testing centre with associated signage, a new site boundary wall, a new vehicular entrance and all related site works. The development will have a total floor area of 581 square metres on a site measuring approximately 0.465 hectares.
The application was lodged on 24 January 2025, with a decision issued on 3 September 2025. Works are scheduled to commence on 9 February 2026. The project is privately funded and falls within the light industrial category.
The applicant and main contractor for the development is Peter Mooney & Company Limited, based in Market Square, Newbridge. The company operates Finlays Garage in Monasterevin.
The new testing facility is expected to enhance local commercial vehicle services in the Monasterevin area and support the growing demand for certified vehicle testing in south Kildare.

Architectural services for the project are being provided by Adrian Hennessy Architectural Technology, while engineering design and certification are being overseen by Ruairi Whelan Consultant Engineers.
A number of specialist consultants are also involved in the development, including Klargester Ireland, Hydro International Ltd, and AYG Landscape Consultants.
