Naas Roads Policing Unit recently stopped a vehicle on the R403 near Barberstown, Co Kildare following an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) alert.
Checks confirmed:
No Insurance (over 6 months expired)
No NCT (over 6 months expired)
No Motor Tax (over 6 months expired)
The vehicle was impounded at the roadside.
The driver now faces:
A court appearance for no insurance;
A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice (FCPN) & three penalty points for no NCT;
A fine for no tax.
A garda spokesperson said of the offence: “Driving without insurance isn’t just illegal — it’s reckless. If you crash, someone else pays the price. No insurance means no protection.
“No NCT means no proof your vehicle is roadworthy.
“No excuses. Drive legal. Drive insured. Arrive alive.”
