A contractor is to be appointed shortly for the construction of a new public library in Clane.

A Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting heard that the tender assessment process has been completed “with a preferred contractor ready for appointment.”

Cllr William Durkan was told that a funding application has been submitted to the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht ”for consideration and approval.”  It is intended to appoint the contractor “for an intended start early this year” once it’s approved by the department.
