The woman said that he got out of custody two weeks previously and she was told by prison counsellors that “he is clean and doing okay.”
However she claimed that the man, who was not present or represented, “snapped” four days before she came to court.
She claimed he was hitting her and was very abusive. She said it lasted for half an hour and she was punched to the face and legs.
Her child told the court that another younger child “shouted at my dad to get off my mam.” The child claimed he pinned her against the wall and “said he’d smash my head in.”
Judge Desmond Zaidan granted an interim protection order and adjourned the case to June 22. He said if she has any concerns she should go to the nearest garda station.
