Naas Roads Policing Unit conducted speed checks in North Kildare.

In an 80km/h zone, motorists were detected travelling at 111km/h, 112km/h and 131km/h.
Gardaí said driving conditions were extremely wet making driving conditions challenging.

All drivers were issued with a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice of €180 and 3 penalty points.

A Kildare Garda spokesperson said: "Speeding puts lives at risk – your own, your passengers’, and other road users.
"Speed limits are there for a reason.
