Kildare's Naas Roads Policing Unit (Naas RPU) recently seized four illegal e-scooters while on patrol in Naas.

According to Naas RPU, “the law is clear. Many e-scooters being used on public roads are illegal and unsafe.”

Naas RPU issued the following guidelines with regard to e-scooter use:

  • Max speed 20km/h

  • Max power 400W

  • No seat, no modifications

  • Rider 16+ only

  • One rider only

  • Road traffic laws apply

  • E-scooters that exceed these limits are not legal and will be seized.

A garda spokesperson stated: “Gardaí will continue enforcement action, including seizure, fines and prosecution.

No compliance. No excuses. Road safety saves lives.”
