An Garda Síochána Kildare-Carlow are reminding all road users to take extra care on our roads this St Brigid’s bank holiday weekend.

With increased traffic expected, Gardaí will be conducting high-visibility checkpoints and patrols throughout Kildare and Carlow to ensure everyone reaches their destination safely.

Road users are urged to:

  • Never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs

  • Slow down and drive to the conditions

  • Always wear seatbelts and ensure children are properly restrained

  • Avoid distractions such as mobile phones while driving

  • Be mindful of vulnerable road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists

  • Plan your journey in advance, take regular breaks on long trips, and remember that one poor decision can have lifelong consequences.

A garda spokesperson said: “This bank holiday weekend, please take responsibility, look out for one another, and help keep our roads safe.”
