Works set to commence shortly on €1.8m school extension in Enfield, Kildare

Works are expected to commence shortly on a building extension to Newtown National School, Newtown, Enfield, Co Kildare.

According to Construction Information Services (CIS), Debcon Engineering & Construction were appointed as main contractor for the project on January 27 2026, with works expected to commence on site “in the next six weeks.”

McLoughlin Architecture is the architect for the €1.8m development.

A decision to grant planning permission was issued by Kildare County Council on 08/03/2024 to Newtown National School for the provision of a single storey extension to the rear of existing single storey school building (existing floor area = 610sqm) consisting of a two classroom special education unit, an set room and a plant room (floor area of proposed extension = 463sqm).

Also included were a secure external soft play area, minor internal alterations and elevational amendments and all ancillary site development works.

The estimated start date for the development is Mar 2 2026, with the estimated finish date of January 9 2027.
