Urgent safety warning issued over ladder sold to Kildare shoppers

'Stop use immediately': Urgent safety warning issued over ladder sold to Irish shoppers

An urgent safety warning has been issued to Irish shoppers, including those in County Kildare, about a ladder sold online which poses a serious risk of injury.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has confirmed that a Durhand telescopic ladder sold through AliExpress may be unsafe to use, with concerns that it could collapse while someone is standing on it.

According to the safety notice, the ladder “presents a risk of injuries as the brackets may separate during use, and the base is not wide enough. This could lead to the user losing their balance and falling from a height”.

The product was sold online via the AliExpress platform and carries the product ID 1005008785028220. It is understood that approximately five of the affected ladders were sold in the Republic of Ireland.

Consumers who purchased the ladder are being told to stop using it immediately.

The CCPC has advised anyone who bought the product to contact AliExpress directly through their user account to check for available remedies, such as a refund or replacement.

This can be done via your user account on the AliExpress platform, they said.
