'We've lived in Kildare all our lives' - Homeless couple have nowhere to put mobile home
A Kildare couple have taken to social media in a bid to find somewhere to live in a mobile home they have just bought amid the growing housing crisis.
In a post on the Naas Ball Notices You community Facebook page, the couple wrote: "Myself and my partner are hidden homeless, we have just bought a mobile home for a very good price and had an area arranged to live on it for it to be moved to.
"That area has now fallen through so I'm now left with a home but with nowhere to put it. I'm reaching out to the community as family and the government are unable to help.
"Is there a local farmer or someone with a bit of land able to help us out with a small area to live on until we sort out our mortgage process to buy a house.
"Both of us are full time working professionals, very clean and sound, we've lived in Kildare our whole lives and are feeling totally lost.

"I understand Planning permission etc so no need to comment to educate me this is just a cry for help to the community. Any help is seriously amazing at this stage."
The heartbreaking post prompted a huge response, with a lot of followers expressing anger over the situation a pair of young professionals find themselves in unable to source a place to live.
Some suggested asking family if they had space to set up the mobile home, while others explained that a farmer simply can't give over a patch of land unless they can provide people with utilities like water and electricity.
One woman explained: "Before people jump on saying someone give them a space unfortunately it’s not that easy, unless someone can connect you to water, electricity and sewage, you can’t just put a mobile in a field. I hope you do find somewhere, best bet is a mobile home park that already has all the utilities set up."
One local said: "I really hope someone can help you guys. It’s a joke at this stage. Just remember you are not on your own, there are so many trying to secure a home and stability."
Another helpful follower wrote: "Not sure if you are stuck to living in Naas, but there is a place just outside Athy, between Athy and Kilcullen, that have land for mobile homes. I’m not sure if they have space but it’s worth a try asking, they might know someone who has something like they have. It’s called Forest Farm, it should come up on Google."
One man suggested a rather radical protest over the housing crisis. He said: "Put it outside the government building, the boat people set up their tents there, so why not a mobile home."
Another follower echoed the frustrations expressed on the page for the couple. They suggested: "Go into your local TD office and let them know your setting up on any space you find along the road. Then ask for their opinion and suggestions. See how fast they come up with a solution."
A final offer came from a woman who suggested she had a house available for rent if the couple decided to go that direction instead of the mobile home.
