Leixlip Gardaí conducted a proactive crime prevention checkpoint in Leixlip, Co Kildare on Thursday afternoon (January 15 2026).
According to Gardaí, the majority of motorists had their documentation in order.
However, two motorists were less fortunate, with their vehicles seized after both were found to be unaccompanied learner drivers.
Incredibly, with one of the vehicles, the motor tax was found to have expired for over 1,000 days.
The vehicles were impounded - impound fees and Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPNs) were issued.
A Garda spokesperson noted: “Reminder: If you are on the road, ensure both you and your vehicle are road legal. If not, we will take enforcement action.”
