Major food conference in Kildare next week

Agri Aware Executive Director Marcus O'Halloran alongside Tadhg Buckley Director of Policy/Chief Economist at the Irish Farmers Association who is the keynote speaker at next week's Food for Thought

Agri Aware is holding its inaugural industry focused ‘Food for Thought Industry Briefing’ event in Co. Kildare.

The event will hear from prominent figures in the agricultural sector both nationally and internationally on key topics dominating the headlines in the media across the agricultural sector.

Taking place at the Osprey Hotel in Naas on Thursday, January 15th , this event will hear from experts including keynote speaker Tadhg Buckley of the Irish Farmers Association, Ksenija Simovic of COPA-COGEGA, Kevin Maher of Dairy Sustainability Ireland and Phelim O'Neill of the Irish Farmers Journal.

Key topics to be discussed on the day include the Mercosur Trade Deal, the Nitrates Derogation and the Common Agricultural Policy, all of which have, and continue to be prominent in the media.

Speaking ahead of the event was Agri Aware Executive Director Marcus O’Halloran who said: “Next week’s industry event is an exciting and important opportunity to bring industry together to hear the latest insights on the policies, trade shifts and environmental priorities shaping the Irish agri-food sector today.

“Not only is it an opportunity to become more aware of the challenges facing the sector, but it also provides a networking opportunity for industry, something that Agri Aware has been keen to provide.

“We are starting 2026 as a means to go on, with this event not only bringing industry together but also strengthening the sector’s standing in the eyes of consumers as we continue our mission of enhancing agricultural literacy.”

Agri Aware is tasked with conveying the importance of the agri-food industry among the public and bridge the gap between producer and consumer.

Agri Aware’s Food for Thought campaign aims to bring consumers and the agricultural industry the latest news, information and opinions on what is shaping the future of Irish agriculture and food production, particularly the challenges Irish farmers face at local and national level with regards to policies and regulations.
