A man who allegedly took a bicycle was confronted by the female owner of the bike, Naas District Court was told

Before the court was Vitalijs Sersnovs, 45, whose address was given as 280 Shawbridge, Kilcock. He is being prosecuted for damaging a bicycle lock at Maynooth rail station on May 19, 2025.
He is also facing allegations of stealing whiskey worth €55 and five bottles of Jameson whiskey worth an estimated €162 from the Aldi store in Clane on June 13, 2025 and October 21, 2025 respectively.
Sgt Dave Hanrahan told the court that the defendant took the bike and went back to the scene where he was seen and confronted by the owner. The sergeant said the incident took place at around 5pm.
He also said the owner had locked the bike earlier that day.
He also said some of the stolen goods were not recovered.
The case was adjourned by Judge Desmond Zaidan. He said a Russian translator would be required and he also granted free legal aid.
