As the festive season approaches, An Garda Síochána Kildare advises the following to help keep your home and property safe:

  • Secure your home

Always lock doors and windows, even when at home.

Use timers on lights when out to make your house look occupied.

Cancel deliveries or ask a neighbour to collect post and parcels.

  • Protect your vehicle

Lock your car and remove valuables from view.

Never leave keys in the ignition, even briefly.

Park in well-lit, secure areas.

  • Shopping safely

Keep handbags and wallets secure while shopping.

Don’t leave purchases visible in cars.

Be cautious of online scams – only shop from trusted websites.

  • Be alert

Be wary of cold callers or unsolicited callers.

Report suspicious activity in your area to Gardaí.

In an emergency dial 112 or 999 For non-emergency concerns, contact your local Garda Station.
