Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless TD, visited KWETB’s CELTEC Training Centre in Celbridge, Kildare on November 28.
CELTEC is an innovative hub that partners with industry to deliver micro-qualifications in robotics, Industrial Electrical Systems, Automation, and related fields, helping retain talent in Ireland.
The Minister was also supporting the launch of KWETB Strategy Statement 2025–2029 and he welcomed its publication.
The Statement is a detailed roadmap for inclusive, innovative education and training across Kildare and Wicklow.

Also in November, Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board (KWETB) officially launched its Strategy Statement 2025–2029 at MERITS, Innovation Thinkspace in Naas. The event celebrated staff, learners and the Board contributions and outlined KWETB’s vision for the next five years, built on four strategic pillars:
Teaching, Learning and Learners
Human Resource Support and Development
Operational Excellence
Environment and Sustainability
Speaking at the launch, Cllr Paul O’Brien, Chairperson of KWETB, said: “This Strategy Statement is more than a plan; it is a shared vision and a roadmap for the future of education and training in our region.”
Dr Deirdre Keyes, Chief Executive of KWETB, added: “Our staff are the foundation of our organisation and our greatest strength. This strategy places a strong emphasis on our people and their wellbeing.”
Minister Lawless commended KWETB’s innovation and ambition, recognising the strategy’s importance for the region’s future.
