Naas General Hospital, Kildare, today (Wednesday, November 19) reports it is experiencing a very busy period, with a large number of patients needing admission.

Management of the hospital are asking people with non-emergency health concerns to consider using other healthcare options where possible.

These include:

The Naas Hospital Injury Unit is located less than five minutes from the hospital and treat broken bones, dislocations, minor burns and many other minor injuries. For more information on what is treated, their opening hours and location visit the website.  

The local out-of-hours GP service is KDOC.  They operate an appointment only service for urgent medical needs. The out-of-hours centres are located in Naas and Celbridge.

Opening hours are Monday to Friday 17:30 – 8:00am and Weekends & Bank Holidays: open 24 hours a day.  Call: 045 848 701 to book an appointment or go to www.kdoc.ie for more information.

Please be aware that patients attending the Emergency Department with non-urgent issues are currently facing very long waiting times.

However, if you or someone you know needs emergency care, please don’t delay. The Emergency Department remains will see all urgent cases, and anyone experiencing symptoms of a heart attack or stroke should call 999 or 112 immediately.
