A planning application has been lodged for a €1.5 million apartment development in Johnstownbridge, Co. Kildare, with proposals for an eight-unit residential block beside Dunfierth Park.

The plans, submitted by applicant Pat Cooney, seek permission for “the erection of a two-storey apartment building consisting of 4 1-bedroom apartments, 2 2-bedroom apartments and 2 3-bedroom apartments.”

According to the application, the project also includes a “new access roadway and footpath from Dunfierth Park with car parking, cycle parking, bin storage area and associated landscaping.” Additional works would involve “connection to [the] existing main foul sewer, connection to [the] existing public watermain and all associated ancillary site development and surface water drainage works.”

The development team includes architect Cross Chartered Building Surveyor, led by John Gorman of Allenwood Cross, Naas. Flood risk assessment services were provided by GDCL Consulting Engineers, with consultant Greg Daly based at Scope House in Perrystown, Dublin 12. Utility consultations were carried out with Uisce Éireann (Irish Water) through consultant Dermot Phelan at Colville House, Talbot Street.

The proposed two-storey development covers a floor area of 660m² on a 0.3-hectare site. The application, valued at €1.5 million, was submitted at the Plans Applied stage with an application date of 15 October 2025 (Ref: 2561167).

If approved, the build would deliver eight new residential units to the Johnstownbridge area, designated as a private, new-build apartment scheme.
