A councillor has set up two online groups aimed at assisting parents and guardians residing in one County Kildare town.
The two groups, which are WhatsApp and Facebook respectively, were created by Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender.
Explaining his motivation behind the creation of the two groups, Cllr Pender explained: "Parents and guardians in Newbridge are again facing serious challenges with secondary school places and waiting lists.
"I’ve set up a Facebook group and WhatsApp group to bring local families together, share updates, and gather real stories."
According to Cllr Pender: "The goal of the two groups is to push the Department of Education to include Newbridge in the next round of the ApplyToSchool.ie pilot or full rollout, and to deliver a new secondary school and a primary school to meet the town’s growing population."
"No family should be left waiting months to find out where their child will go to school," he added. "The more voices we have, the stronger our case will be."
The Facebook group can be accessed here, while the WhatsApp group can be accessed here.
