A woman who appeared before Naas District Court is “slowly dying from drug addiction.”
That was the comment made by Judge Desmond Zaidan, who commented that she frequently appeared before him.

“I could write a book about her,” the judge added.
Garda Dario Pranjic told the court that the woman was before the court for four alleged breaches of family law orders on dates between July 1 and August 22 in Kildare.
Gda Pranjic said that when charged after caution, the defendant made no reply.
He said the breaches concerned orders secured by the defendant’s mother and the defendant was “begging at the mother’s door for money and putting her in fear.”
The court was told that there were a total of eight charges against her including criminal damage at a homeless accommodation centre.
The garda alleged that on September 23 the woman broke a window at a Peter McVerry Trust centre with her fist and was taken by ambulance to Naas Hospital.
After being taken to hospital, she returned to the hostel the following day and was ringing the bell and abusing staff.
“She doesn’t have a room there,” he said, adding that she threatened to break the window again.
He objected to bail because he was concerned she would do that.
Judge Zaidan comments that it is a shame that the only option for the defendant is jail.
“There have been multiple breaches of orders protecting her mother from her. She is desperate for drugs and money,” he said.
The judge remanded her in custody with consent to bail, adding he thinks he is doing her a favour because she will have access to facilities including a warm bed. “I think I’m saving her life,” he said.
