Online claims about ladies county final mistreatment debunked by Kildare LGFA and Kildare GAA

St Laurence's celebrate their Kildare Senior Football Championship win Cedral St Conleth's Park

Kildare freelance photographer Aisling Hyland's posts across her social media platforms gained steam after she claimed that the Cedral St. Conleth's Park's pitch lights were turned off before the presentations of both the Ladies Senior Camogie Final and Senior Ladies Final trophies.

The posts drew calls for change and accusations of poor treatment by hosts Kildare GAA, but the incidents have since been denied by both the Kildare LGFA and Kildare GAA.

The Kildare LGFA clarified what took place after the Kildare Senior Football Championship Final between Eadestown and St. Laurence's on October 3 in Cedral St. Conleth's Park in a statement.

The statement said: “Kildare LGFA can confirm that all stadium lights were not turned off prior to the cup presentation and that full access to all facilities in Cedral St. Conleth's Park was given by Kildare GAA.”

The LGFA response to the claims were then backed up by Kildare GAA in their statement concerning the now widespread online claims and criticism.

The Kildare GAA statement said: "Kildare GAA can confirm that the stadium lights at Cedral St. Conleth’s Park remained on throughout the conclusion of the Ladies Senior Camogie Final and the Ladies LGFA Final, including the presentations of the cups. Any suggestion that the lights were turned off prior to the presentations is incorrect and false."

"Kildare GAA can also confirm that both teams for the Ladies LGFA Final and the Kildare Camogie Senior Final had hot showers available in the dressing rooms and access to all facilities.
"Kildare GAA, Kildare LGFA, and Kildare Camogie maintain a strong and positive working relationship, founded on mutual respect and a shared commitment to the promotion and development of Gaelic games for all participants across the county."

As well as the claims surrounding facilities, the photographer also highlighted the lack of Kildare LGFA games taking place in the county grounds in the posts saying, "Since its re-opening there has been only one ladies LGFA club game and only one ladies club camogie game, the Senior Championship Final. In both the ladies finals, the pitch lights were switched off before the presentation."

The Kildare LGFA statement continued, “Kildare LGFA are currently planning for our 2025 County Convention, which will be held on November 16, 2025 in Cedral St. Conleth's Park. Following the Convention, the incoming Kildare LGFA Executive will continue the positive working relationship both Executive committees have enjoyed. Kildare LGFA will work constructively with Kildare GAA to agree the use of facilities for the 2026 Inter-County and Club season."
