There were three people on trolleys at Naas Hospital today, having been admitted through the accident and emergency department.

It was among the least overcrowded facilities in the eastern region, where Tallaght Hospital had no patients on trolleys.

There were were no people on trolleys at Tullamore Hospital and the overcrowding figure for Portlaoise Hospital was seven.

Overcrowding was worst in the eastern region at St Vincent's Hosptial which had 24 people on trolleys
