Work commences on crematorium in this Kildare region

A new crematorium is set to be constructed in Co Kildare.

Construction Information Services (CIS) reports that works have now commenced on site for a “gas operated crematorium facility” in Derrymullen, Allenwood, Naas, Co Kildare.

The €250k crematorium facility is by Wellbrook Funeral Services, with the developer overseeing works on this project privately.

The construction of a gas operated crematorium facility – on a site area of 3.3ha - is to include:

(a) a crematorium with administration office; (b) a gas storage compound; (c) a wastewater treatment system with raised polishing filter; (d) an access road from the existing Wellbrook embalming centre and chapel of rest with extensive landscaping and screening and all associated site works. (An Bord Pleanála Ref: 315458).

Local contractor Trevor Fitzgerald, Co Westmeath has been appointed to carry out works.

The architect for the project is Plan It Services Architectural and Engineering Solutions.

Planning permission was granted following appeal.

The construction start date is listed as October 22 2025, with an estimated finishing date of September 16 2026.
